As part of recent changes to the International Student Program, new eligibility criteria for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) have come into effect.
๐ Key Highlights:
โ
To be eligible for a PGWP, students in non-degree programs (diplomas, certificates, etc.) must be enrolled in eligible fields of study that align with Canada’s long-term labour shortages, such as those prioritized under Express Entry.
๐
This applies to students who applied for a study permit on or after November 1, 2024.
๐ ๐๐ณ๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐ก๐ผ๐:
โ
119 new fields of study have been added, focused on health care, education, social services, and trades.
โ 178 fields no longer tied to priority occupations have been removed.
๐ข The total number of eligible fields of study is now 920.
